I’m an AWOB

absent without blogging … just can’t be arsed to do it right now, as the British say. Try not to cry.

Lulled by the Sound of Fiddles

God(ess(es)), I don’t know why I keep writing this stuff. But somehow it makes me a little less angry with my elected leaders. Venting into the electronic ether provides some cold comfort, I guess.

Let’s review, just for my own sorrow/amusement.

So deregulation – a dismantling of the banking and financial regulations the government put in place after the stock market crash of October 1929 that precipitated the Great Depression – took place in the 1980s under Reagan and the Republicans. Deregulation essentially expanded since then under each administration to one degree or another, as I understand it, with Clinton – a Democrat, mind you – getting in his administration’s two cents/lack of sense in 1998. This was in spite of the savings and loan debacle of the 1980s (remember that, Generation X? No, I didn’t think so).

If this looks weird …

“Pardon our mess! We’re remodeling to better serve you!”

Actually, it’s just to please myself. I’m close to completing my new site–all that’s left besides a last round of copy-editing and code clean-up is changing the CSS and whatnot on this here blog portion to make it match the rest of the new site. Hence the potentially goofy appearance of said blog.

Don’t even try to out geek me …

… cuz you can’t and here is the proof:

And how cool was my Mom to let me take my class picture in my Capt. Kirk shirt? Star Trek original cast ftw. Nerds of the world unite.

Coming Up for Air

I suppose it’s about time. I’ve enjoyed my time in stasis, I have to say, as has a certain undead warlock chick by the name of Hoyden who resides in Blackwing Lair (nerd alert!). But lately, between work—yes, I’ve managed not to starve since my grateful departure from the Dark Side (i.e., marketing and PR) and school—yes, more photography classes–my life seems to have suddenly lurched out of its static mode here in June.

Life seems to have a habit of marching on, and therefore, so must I. In some ways it’s hard to get back into the fifth gear of life, after a period of introspection/goofing off, and I’ve never been one to sweat the details of life, anyway. And I never really planned to put things into a holding pattern for a couple of months, but after quitting my last job, it just kind of happened—at least that is what the past couple of months have felt like.

And now it feels different. Not sure why—it’s as if someone reading the book that was my life stopped in the middle of a chapter to answer the phone and ended up talking for six weeks. Now they’ve picked up the book and started reading again.
